Why we camp:

I know the #1 reason is 'back to nature'. I guess since childhood I always loved the woods. I grew up one block from what was called a 'reservation' similar to a state park I guess. Many trails, a couple of creeks, one 5' waterfall (that was drinkable water). My Mom would put a peanut butter sandwich in a brown paper bag for me and off I would go for an entire afternoon on my bicycle through the woods or sometimes just on foot. I was really a 'tom boy' I guess. Use to ride horseback taking lesions from the US Calvary retired. In the winter I volunteered to exercise the horses and would be able to ride out in the woods on the trails. Camping reminds me of that simpler, quieter, peaceful time. We hear so much traffic where we live now even though I also love the ocean. So, I have the ocean at my back door but can still go camping out in the woods, out in the country in what reminds me of a 'safer' environment as well. I have always found that most campers are friendly happy people and I love sitting around the campfire chatting.
