Bruce, Lisa and Carly have been members of the Carolina Runaways since 2006 and we recently added a new camper (Ashley) in June 2008. We enjoy getting together as a group and meeting new people. We look forward to trying out all the new places suggested by other group members.
We got into camping in 2006 when we bought our first fifth wheel camper. We liked to travel with our dogs and by using the camper we weren't limited to going to places that allowed pets. We now found ourselves traveling to different places and when we joined the Carolina Runaways we started going to new campgrounds and meeting new people which was very enjoyable. We didn't camp much this year (2008) because I sold my truck and fifth wheel in April and welcomed our new daughter in June 2008. But I really missed camping, so in July I bought a used motorhome which is what we current camp in. I find the the camping community is one of the best out there. There are always people willing to help and welcome you to a new campground.
Our current camper is a 2001 Gulfstream Independence DP. It is really convenient when traveling with kids to be able to get up and move around while traveling down the road.
Our favorite campgrounds are Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, SC, Cascades Lakes in Pisgah Forest, NC and Ft. Wilderness in Disney.
